How to Choose the Right Colors for Your CT Home
With all the different colors that are offered and all the different hues and tints of those colors, it can be hard to decide how to paint the entire house. You don’t want it all to be one color but at the same time it’s difficult to pick different colors for each room without it looking like a rainbow blew up inside your home. Here are some tips to help you choose the right color palette for your ct home.
Choose Shades of the Same Hue
It’s important when looking at colors that you pick shades of the same hue. Hues are naturally bright so you can tone them down to to the shades you want but it’s important to keep a theme. Choose A few different palettes of the same hue scheme and if you tone one down, make sure to do the same to the others unless your looking for that one bold, bright room and are wanting the others to be toned down to center that one. Choosing colors in the same hue will help avoid having one neon green wall right next to a faded pink room that’s next to a deep red. All these colors may be nice but having them next to each other is going to frustrate the mind and confuse the eye.
Choose the Main Focus Room
More than likely the main room in the house is going to be the most open room which tends to be the living or dining room. These rooms are easily visible for several points of view and will be the main eye catcher. Make that room be your muse for your chosen color palette. If you choose to start with the bathroom or a bedroom it can be confusing from there how to match the other rooms accordingly. This room can set the tone with soft neutral colors, bright popping colors or strong and bold. Keep in mind you don’t always have to paint every wall in the same room the same color. That makes things easier but as long as you stick to the same hue, having one wall is a great way to make the room look bigger and more open.
Know Your Surroundings
Walk through your house and see how each room connects and which rooms are visible from one another. This will help you understand how to connect the colors around the house as you move from room to room. If you have a two story house, you can treat the upstairs and downstairs as separate focal points. Walk around with your chosen color palette stick and test out which colors will help transition each room to keep the harmony and design you are going for.
Know Each Room’s Theme And Decor
When painting your whole house, you need to make sure the rooms transition nicely but you also need to keep in mind the room’s theme and decor. If the furniture and shelves are all bright yellow and then you paint your walls bright yellow, it is going to be a very intense room. You can either plan the color of your walls around the room’s decor or plan the decor around the color but to have a room that looks nice make sure you find a way for each to coincide. These tips don’t mean you can’t express your style but are to help narrow in on your creativity to design a house you’ll love to call your home.
