In our past Fiderio & Sons blog posts we have mentioned some of our favorite vinyl siding brands and styles. Of course, we also understand just how important the color of your house is to you. Choosing a color that reflects your personality, and increases the curb appeal of your home, can be an exhausting task for any homeowner. Today, more than ever, people are choosing bold and rich colors over classic grays and whites.
Two of our favorite vinyl siding companies, Mastic and CertainTeed, both offer what seems like infinite amounts of color choices.
Variety and Options
1) CertainTeed offers a very helpful 'ColorView' application on their website that helps you find the perfect combination of roofing, vinyl siding and fiber cement siding colors for your home. Our favorite part about the ColorView selector is that it bases home styles on your zip code. For example, after typing in a New England zip, the housing selections included area specific styles like Victorians, colonials, capes and ranches. This helps you choose colors based on the style of home that you own. You can also upload a picture of your own home (for an additional fee) and change it to any color you prefer.
2) Mastic Home Exteriors by Ply Gem also helps their customers make choosing a house color easy, by offering a Mastic Color Advisor iPad app. The app guides homeowners through a 'Guide me', 'Inspire me' and 'Let me pick' process. We love that you can select a color palette based on your personality and certain images that you naturally gravitate towards. Mastic also allows you to choose your home style, select areas to change materials and colors, and then send to your favorite home contractor.
It is obvious that technology now makes it easier than ever to choose an exterior color for your home. Our biggest recommendation would be to not feel overwhelmed when choosing the right vinyl siding colors for your home. Instead, use all of the options available to help make the decision a little bit easier. Also, ask the advice of your favorite vinyl siding installer. As home remodeling professionals, we have seen houses in every color under the sun.
Color Fun Facts:
According to a real estate survey, nearly 40 percent of home buyers questioned liked a house with a white exterior.
Light colors cut the cooling costs of a home. Lighter colors reflect radiant energy, therefore absorbing less heat into the home.
Beige, along with tan and brown, is the second most popular color behind white.
The beauty of vinyl siding is the seemingly infinite amounts of styles, colors and options. Let Fiderio & Sons help you with your vinyl siding decision.
