Leaves, branches, bird droppings, and even sap can fall onto the windows. If allowed to sit there for a period of time, they can become hard to wash off with regular cleaning solutions.

Cleaning ct sun room windows may be a time consuming job simply because of the number of windows. Using the proper products and techniques can make the job go by quicker, leaving your windows clean and streak-free.

What you will need:

Scaffolding (Depends on Size of Sunroom)
Large Pole Brush
Flat Squeegee
Strong Cleaning Solution

Cleaning your sunroom to maintain beauty requires a little elbow grease and common sense. These are the “ Dos and Don’ts ” regarding cleaning your sunroom:

Don’t walk on your sunroom roof

Don’t use razor blades to remove stuck-on grime because the sharp metal and trapped dirt will scratch the windows.

It will break and you could be seriously injured. The best way to wash your sunroom windows is to rent scaffolding high enough for your sunroom. Rent enough to not only reach your sunroom’s roof, but also go past the edge by a foot. Assemble the scaffolding as close as you can to the edge of the sunroom.

Sweeping

With a long brush attached to a long extension, begin sweeping off the windows on the roof. Do this easily by moving the dirt and debris towards you. This will pull it towards the edge where it can fall off.

Fill a Bucket with Water and a Cleaning Solution

This step is self-explanatory. Fill a large bucket with water and a relatively strong, industrial cleaning solution. If the dirt on the sunroom window is really caked on, it will not come off with regular glass cleaner.

Squeegee the Window Dry

Once the windowpane has been washed, you will have to get rid of the water or else water spots will appear once it is dry. Use the squeegee to pull all the water towards you and let it run down the side of the sunroom.

Repeat this process for each window. You should do all of the windows separately. If you try to do them all the first windows will dry and have water spots.

Water vapor can exit a home by diffusing (escaping through vents) or by condensing on a surface that directs the water outside. Either way, the water needs an escape route.

The Vapor profile of a wall describes the wall’s drying direction and potential. The profile indicates which layers get wet and how they can dry. Drying can occur on either side of vapor barriers. Vapor barriers are the least permeable materials in a wall system and are designed to prevent water vapor from passing through them. Vapor barriers should be placed strategically to keep the ‘dry zone’ dry while avoiding trapping moisture between any two layers. Fig. 1 shows a wall assembly that traps water vapor. Fig. 2 shows an example of a wall assembly that allows drying in each direction.

A vapor barrier located on the inside of a wall prevents inward drying (Fig 1) while a vapor barrier located on the outside of a home would prevent outward drying. In general, water vapor moves from the warm side of a building to the cold side, so vapor barriers should be placed accordingly. A place like Connecticut gets tricky because the warm side and the cold side switch places as the seasons change. In the winter, condensation tends to occur on the interior side of the exterior wall. In the summer, condensation tends to occur on the exterior side of the interior wall where it can get trapped inside by things like vinyl wall coverings, as in figure 1, above.

General Rules To Follow

Avoid placing vapor barriers on opposing sides of a wall assembly or else water vapor cannot escape in either direction and the structure could mold or decay.
A vapor barrier should not be applied on the inside of the drainage plane where it might interfere with the structure’s ability to dry both inwards and outwards from the control layers.
Mechanisms that enable drying are more important than wetness prevention. Use the most permeable materials possible: if you can use a vapor retarder (defined as semi-permeable or semi-impermeable) rather than a vapor barrier (which is impermeable) do so!
Air-conditioned buildings should not have vapor barriers on the interior portion of the wall assembly. Make sure that even the wallpaper is permeable!
Siding materials such as weather-treated vinyl that are impermeable are acceptable because they are installed with many air gaps that allows water vapor from inside the wall system to escape to the outside atmosphere regardless of the permeability of the siding itself.
Cladding that can absorb water, like brick, should be properly vented: See Figure Below
This assembly allows drying in both diirections. A wall constructed in this manner could be built with a variety of siding materils. If the siding were vinyl, for example, you would not need to change anything. The only time this general profile would not work is if the siding or cladding were completely impermeable, and not vented, such as a home with stucco cladding.

We think these are a brilliant invention, but we will review several advantages and disadvantages so that you can decide for yourself.

Glass shows dirt more than any other part of your home exterior, so you’ll know when you need to clean it. Clean your sunroom windows on an as-needed basis. Since it’s harder to tell when the frames are dirty, aim to clean them every few months.

Do not climb on the roof. Do not lean a ladder against your sunroom. Rent scaffolding if necessary.

Pressure-treated lumber

Which Roof Damages Does Home Insurance Cover?

The first step is identifying problems. Please refer to our roof inspection checklist or call us for a free consultation.
The second step is getting estimates. Unless you already have an established relationship with a contractor, you should compare estimates from several roofing contractors in Connecticut. We have more information on understanding roofing contractors and estimates, but in general, we recommend that you compare Connecticut roofing estimates from three contractors. You should go with whichever contractor you trust the most and think will do the best job. Choosing the cheapest contractor only saves the insurer money. That is not to say that the cheapest estimate cannot be the best, but for something as expensive and important as your roof, your main consideration should be quality.
Once you have selected a contractor, they will give you an estimate, along with necessary paperwork, to submit to your insurer.
Next, you need to submit that claim.
Your insurer will send an adjuster to assess/confirm your claimed damages. You should have your contractor present when the adjuster arrives. Adjusters are experienced licensed inspectors. They come with a standard checklist and are trained to record basic black and white observations. Their profession and expertise is not inferior to one of a full service contractor; it is just different. Since they are not involved with the actual repairs and don’t deal with secondary damages, they can overlook major problems that a contractor is more familiar with. Again, there is no harm in getting as many opinions as possible. Many roofing contractors in Connecticut will offer no-obligation estimates.
Once you and your insurer have made an agreement and you have submitted your claim, you will receive a partial payment from your insurer. This payment should cover the cost of building materials and get the project started.
Your contractor will begin work. In terms of payment, you will be responsible only for your deductible. Refer to your insurance paperwork or contact your agent to determine what your deductible is.
Once your roof repair has been completed, your insurer may send someone in to do a final inspection to ensure that all repairs claimed “necessary” have been completed. During this inspection, your insurer is not trying to detach from or displace responsibility. The purpose is to ensure that your contractor has completed all necessary repairs to code. Unless your insurer is really trying to scam you, this is a good thing for homeowners because it means you get another set of eyes without cost.
(In the event that your trusted roofer and your insurer cannot come to an agreement, you should contact the Connecticut Department of Insurance. They are there to help you settle disputes and make sure that your insurance company complies with the terms of your policy. Again, having documentation from your roofer will help the claim process run more smoothly. Reports for your roofer as well as “before and after” pictures will help make your case.)
You finally have your home fixed and a check in the mail. This check should include all costs, minus the initial partial payment and your deductible.

When will insurers deny coverage? If your roof collapses underneath the weight of snow but was also old and required repair or replacement anyway, your insurer can, and should, deny you coverage. Most responsible insurers require annual roof inspections. This is not unreasonable; experienced roofers recommend a minimum of two roof inspections per year, not including necessary inspections following storms.

The most common reason insurers deny coverage is because policyholders neglected to address roofing problems immediately, or neglected to conduct regular roof inspections and complete necessary maintenance. For example, if you notice ceiling stains now, but don’t do anything until they have quadrupled next year, your insurer is not responsible. At that point, the damage is far beyond what it was initially, and it’s your responsibility to take care of your most valuable asset.

Think about it like this: If your oil change indicator light came on, you didn’t get an oil change, and your engine failed a year later, would your warranty cover the repair? Probably not. It’s also your responsibility to take action to prevent further damage after a storm event, such as hiring someone to clear your roof of snow, or covering missing shingles/broken windows with a tarp to prevent water infiltration.

Aside from being diligent about regular maintenance, one of the most important things you can do to prove that your claim is legitimate is to keep a file of photographs that document the condition of your roof (prior to damage) and maintenance repairs. If your roof is damaged during a storm event, take pictures immediately!

The Victorian Era, an architectural style that spanned 1840-1910 in America, celebrated newness and optimism. Mass production became possible during the industrial revolution.

Mass production of decorative shingles, gingerbread trim, brackets, and spindles made architectural accessories more accessible and affordable to the general public. The resulting architecture from the Victorian area experimented with blends of color and details. Gothic revival architecture predominated during the early Victorian Era. These homes feature steep gables and pointed windows. Queen Anne style homes (built between 1840 and 1910) are marked by elaborate decorative elements, such as gingerbread trim, front-facing gables, towers, spindles, brackets, and bay windows.
